You've been at this for quite some
time now, how long before Mr. Black has a nervous breakdown, quits the biz,
and becomes a respectable member of society?
Mr. Black has been lobotomized and is kept under heavy sedatives. He is, for
all intents and purposes, a zombie. So DWN is a
permanent staple at Club Saphir.
Will
the Music Format ever change in any way?
Format?
What's a format?
Is
it true that you've been wooed by other 'bigger'
clubs? Any chance of you ever changing venues?
Yes and no, we feel
Club Saphir has that certain Je-ne-sais-quoi
(read: spooky atmosphere and great places to
hide). It's also the site of the very first Dark
Wave Night (way back in 1997), so we
feel a great deal of attachment to the 'ole hell hole. Also, many patrons claim it's haunted by the
ghost of Mr. Black
(who, ironically enough, is not dead as of press
time).
What's
the meaning of life?
None of your
business.
I've
often read/heard its current incarnation referred
to as Dark
Wave nights 5? What the hell happened to 1-2-3-4?
DWN 1 Was the
original night at Purple Haze (Renamed Club Haze
once we took over in 1997)
DWN 2: Electric Boogaloo Was held at club Ezra
circa 1998-1999.
DWN 3: Ground Zero was the ill-fated Club
Redemption stint of 2000. Bad vibes there.
DWN 4: Full Circle was the original limited run at
Club Saphir, summer 2001.
Thus DWN 5: Mr. Black goes to hell begans November 9
2001 and continues to this very day!
Will
going to a DWN help make me more attractive to
members of the opposite sex?
Yes. Absolutely,
without a doubt. We promise.
How
much sucking up does it take to get a Request
played at DWN?
Depends on who
you suck up to. While both Kingsley
and Weatherhead
are very receptive to unabashed flattery, Mr.
Black is an adulation whore. He's your
best bet.
Is
DWN a Goth night?
If you are a
Goth, the answer is Yes.
If you are not a Goth, the answer No.
Either way, your mother wouldn't approve.
I miss
those comic-book-y posters you used to have, any
more coming in the near future?
Yes, we're just waiting for the black India-ink
shortage to be over.
Enough
questions already. Just be there every Friday at
Saphir.
We'll take good care of you.
